Kidnapers of the 5-year-old daughter of a Lebanese millionaire lowered their ransom demand to $5 million from $13 million as the deadline they set for payment expired. In an 11th-hour call to the Spanish daily ABC in Madrid, a man speaking Spanish with a foreign accent said the kidnapers will now accept $5 million for Melodie Nakachian, seized more than a week ago on the Costa del Sol. A spokesman for the newspaper said the voice was the same as in previous contacts made by the kidnapers through ABC. There was no immediate comment from Melodie’s father, Raymond Nakachian, who lives in Spain.
