Two women who carried bombs that killed 13 people in separate blasts in Muslim West Beirut were friends and worked for a Christian militia, news reports said. The As Safir newspaper, quoting a security source, said the women worked for Pierre Rizk, identified as head of security for the Lebanese Forces, a right-wing Christian militia alliance. The Lebanese Forces denied the report. The An Nahar daily quoted police as saying the women were told to deliver presents to individuals at Beirut airport and American University Hospital. The reports did not say if the women knew they were carrying bombs.
