Cosmonaut Ready for Another Space Flight

MOSCOW — Soviet cosmonaut Alexander Laveikin, who was returned to Earth after more than five months in space in July because of heart irregularities, is healthy and ready for another space mission, the Tass news agency reports.
Laveikin, 36, who had been in space since Feb. 5, was replaced at the end of July by Alexander Alexandrov because of fears the heart irregularity could create problems later in the flight.
“After he went through the traditional package of re-adaptation routines, a supplementary examination has detected nothing wrong with the cosmonaut’s health,” Dr. Numukhamed Mukharlyamov said.
