Cornish Meat Pie

Thank you for a most interesting article about the Gold Country (Michele and Tom Grimm, Nov. 8). However, I want to point out that the Cornish meat pie is spelled pasty and not pastie. The plural was correct in the article--pasties. Michigan (especially the Upper Peninsula), Wisconsin and Minnesota people have adopted this crust-filled delight and one will see, especially in the northern parts of those states, many road signs advertising “Hot Pasties.” But one doesn’t have to go all the way to the Midwest or to the Gold Country to sample this meat pie. The Pasty Kitchen on Katella in Los Alamitos specializes in this dish.
