Pope Makes Appeal for Reconciliation in Haiti

VATICAN CITY —
Pope John Paul II made an appeal for reconciliation in Haiti as the country prepared for its first free presidential elections in 30 years.
At his weekly general audience Wednesday, the Pope also expressed support for Haiti’s Roman Catholic bishops. Haitians go to the polls on Nov. 29.
