Israeli warplanes buzzed towns and Palestinian refugee camps in southern Lebanon today amid signs that Israel plans retaliation for an Arab guerrilla attack by hang glider that left six soldiers dead.

Israeli jets broke the sound barrier over towns and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon as far north as the port city of Sidon, about 30 miles north of the border, according to Israel Radio and Radio Damascus, monitored in Nicosia, Cyprus. Similar sorties have preceded many retaliatory Israeli assaults.
