The Motherland Party of Premier Turgut Ozal is likely to win a majority in today’s parliamentary elections in Turkey despite a drop in voter support over the last weeks of the campaign, according to the latest public opinion poll. The Piar Polling Agency said 36.3% of the voters were backing Ozal’s free market policies. That is down from 39.4% two weeks ago. It projected that Motherland would win 260 seats in the 450-seat National Assembly. Seven parties are in the race, but the poll forecast that only three would be represented in Parliament.
