The Agriculture Department announced that the government will subsidize the sale of an additional 2.35 million metric tons of wheat to the Soviet Union--the second such allocation this month. On Nov. 9, the department announced that it would subsidize the sale of 2.4 million tons of wheat to the Soviet Union. The USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service also announced that the Soviet Union had purchased an additional 50,000 metric tons of hard red winter wheat out of the early November allotment under the special cost-cutting U.S. export program. Shipment of the newly purchased wheat is set for next February, the service said.
