‘We Fixate on a Flaw’

Share

I was pleased to read the Tavris article. I agree that the “fatal flaw” approach to select candidates has some serious problems itself. The way I see it we are all human, we are all going to make mistakes and errors in judgment. Does this mean from the moment we enter college that we should live the life of a saint because we may run for public office 10 years down the road and who knows what dirt might come out if we are not careful?

Do we really have the right to dig into the private lives of candidates? We do to a certain extent. We must decide what wrongdoings might affect a candidate’s job performance. And remember, we are not perfect, we do make mistakes.
