Five aides of Col. Gregorio (Gringo) Honasan, who led a bloody August coup attempt against President Corazon Aquino, turned themselves in to Philippine authorities, beating a midnight deadline for the mutineers to return to the military. Two other Honasan aides surrendered in the last two weeks. Meanwhile, the military command announced that troops will seal off the seaside Philippine International Convention Center two weeks before the Dec. 8-16 summit of the Assn. of Southeast Asian Nations. Concerns over security were heightened recently when 80 sticks of dynamite were found inside the center.
