A Pacific storm system spread rain and high wind into the Northwest, and moisture from the Great Lakes fed snow over parts of the Northeast and Appalachians. Driving was sometimes hazardous in blinding “lake effect” snow squalls across northeastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. A snow advisory was posted for parts of western Pennsylvania north of Pittsburgh. A few snow showers also were reported across parts of western and central New York, much of West Virginia and northern Maine. Gale warnings were posted along a small section of the East Coast from Long Island Sound to Delaware Bay, including the New Jersey coast. In the Northwest, gale warnings were issued, and rain spread across western sections of Washington and Oregon.
