Two reputed ringleaders of Mexico’s narcotics trade have been captured in a joint army and police action that covered three Mexican states. The attorney general’s office identified the pair as Miguel Angel Batiz Salcido and Ignacio Bojorquez Izumza and said they were among 12 people arrested in operations that also included confiscation of 8,360 pounds of marijuana and 537 pounds of cocaine in Jalisco, Michoacan and Tamaulipas states. “It was one of the most important blows (to Mexican narcotics dealers) in the last five years, not because of the quantity of drugs confiscated but because of the arrests,” a spokesman said.
