Iran Missile Hits Decoy Barge

United Press International

Iran fired a Silkworm missile toward a Kuwait oil terminal today but instead struck a decoy barge protecting the offshore facility near where the U.S. Navy has permission to establish a floating base.

It was the first missile launched at Kuwait by the Iranians since Oct. 22, when a Silkworm fired from Iranian-occupied southern Iraq seriously damaged Sea Island, Kuwait’s primary offshore oil-loading terminal. Western diplomats said the barge was one of several reflector-equipped vessels placed around Sea Island a few weeks after it was hit.
