Sockers Waiting to Hear on Veee Trade

The Sockers are waiting to hear from the Baltimore Blast concerning a possible trade that would send Drago to San Diego for veteran midfielder Juli Veee, who was suspended for 30 days on Nov. 26 for slapping Johan Aarnio, assistant coach.

“They’re still thinking about it,” Ron Cady, Socker president, said Sunday. “The interest has strictly come from Kenny Cooper (Blast coach) and the Blast.”

Cady, Socker Coach Ron Newman and Cooper met Saturday, when the Sockers were in Baltimore, to discuss trade possibilities. Cady said there was no interest on the part of Cleveland or Baltimore in acquiring defender Kevin Crow, who announced he wanted to be traded last Wednesday. But the Blast did express interest in Veee, who is in the final year of a no-cut, no-trade contract worth $90,000.
