Calling it one of the biggest environmental cases in the history of Los Angeles, City Atty. James Hahn filed a 203-count criminal complaint Wednesday against a Chatsworth electronics company that he said broke “every environmental law in the book” by improperly storing and disposing hazardous materials.

Electroplating Technology Inc. and its president, Dorence Anderson Freed, 66, of Thousand Oaks, were charged with illegally storing toxic materials and illegally disposing of hazardous industrial waste--including acids, copper, lead and nickel--in sewers and commercial dumpsters.

Arraignment was scheduled Jan. 7 on the charges, which carry a maximum penalty of 167 years in jail and fines of more than $3.5 million.
