Five of the first eight Cuban inmates paroled since prison uprisings by the detainees in two cities have joined their families in Miami, including one of the main negotiators for inmates who rioted in Oakdale, La. Three of them went to halfway houses in Kansas City, Mo. All eight inmates released Friday by the Justice Department had been scheduled for parole before the uprisings, staged to protest plans to deport some Cubans with criminal records to Cuba. An attorney monitoring the parole process said Justice Department officials in Washington indicated the release of detainees previously scheduled for parole was proceeding rapidly and that 120 or so detainees could be paroled soon.
