James W. Bagley was named president, chief operating officer and a director of Applied Materials Inc. Bagley previously was senior vice president-operations. He succeeds James C. Morgan, who remains chairman and CEO. The Santa Clara-based company produces wafer-fabrication systems for the semiconductor industry.
