Chris Terreri made 19 first-period saves, and Corey Millen scored his second goal during a five-goal second period Thursday night, leading Team USA to a 7-3 exhibition hockey victory over the Soviet Selects.

It was the fourth win in five games for the team of prospective U.S. Olympians against a club that isn’t expected to place any players on the Soviet Olympic team. The eight-game series continues Saturday in Detroit. The United States is 26-13-4 in pre-Olympic play.

Outshot, 20-7, in the opening period, Team USA was in a 1-1 tie only because of the acrobatic play of Terreri, the former Providence University goalie and one of only two professionals on the U.S. roster.

Terreri made several point-blank saves, including seven in the final 3 1/2 minutes of the period. He finished the game with 35 saves.

Millen, a former University of Minnesota star, has taken over as Team USA’s leading scorer. He has eight goals in the five games against the Soviets and 17 goals and 15 assists in the last 12 games.

Clark Donatelli’s goal broke the tie 2:59 into the second period. Team USA then scored three times in a 3:28 span midway through the period against Soviet goalie Aleksander Tyznyh. Scott Fusco scored first, followed by Jim Johannson and Millen to put Team USA up, 5-1.
