Dartmouth Goalie’s Play Stops USIU Hockey Team

Goalie Steve Laurin had 43 saves to lead Dartmouth College to a 3-0 victory over the United State International University hockey team Friday night in a nonconference game at the San Diego Ice Arena.

Rob Goulet scored Dartmouth’s first goal 3:27 into the second period. He was assisted by Tom Finks and Derek Tweedle. Six minutes later, Jamie Hanlon scored an unassisted goal.

Dartmouth (3-4) finished the scoring with Tom Finks’ empty-net goal less than a minute into the third period. Finks was assisted by Doug Weiss.

USIU goalie Tony Couture had 19 saves.

USIU (7-10) will play Dartmouth tonight at 7:30 at the San Diego Ice Arena.

BASEBALL

The University of San Diego will hold a dinner to honor baseball coach John Cunningham Jan. 22 at the University Center.

Cunningham enters his 25th season at USD with an overall record of 549-537-13.

Kansas City Royal Manager John Wathan, a former USD player, will be the guest speaker.
