‘An Antidote to Pessimism’

It would seem that The Times is now snuggling up to developers along with the (Board of) Supervisors to promote uncontrolled and uncontrollable growth. (“An Antidote to Pessimism,” Dec. 13).

I must respond to the obvious attempts in this article to promote fallacious, development-serving pronouncements. Not that I have become cynical, while watching our county being devoured by a herd of locustlike developers--with the assistance of local political bodies--but I would tend to question a study by a lackluster, local conservative college. What are their ties to the developers, in the way of contributions, etc.? Another study reported in your paper noted the cost to the community of gridlock, into the billions.

The future of Orange County, as envisioned by the Board of Supervisors and the developers, already exists. Tokyo would be a good example; another might be Hong Kong. I hope that The Times does not also share this vision, as it would appear.
