Agreement to Market Medical System OKd
Pixar, the San Rafael, Calif.-based image computer company has announced a multi-year, multimillion dollar contract with Philips Medical Systems for its first end-user medical system for 3-D volumetric reconstruction of computed tomography scans.
The value of the contract will be in excess of $5 million in the first year.
Philips will have marketing and distribution rights worldwide to the MSP software packaged by Pixar.
The software allows physicians for the first time to visualize complex spatial relationships and see structures not clearly deined by conventional techniques. Doctors can then have more accurate information for surgical planning and implement improved patient treatments.
