- The mayor’s office honored Cal Ballet’s East German Cavalier, Oliver Matz, whose accomplishments include snaring a gold medal at the third International Ballet competition in Jackson, Miss., with the key to the city at a pre-curtain ceremony on opening night at the Civic Theatre.

The dancer was moved when he accepted the accolades, but added that the highlight of his visit to the United States was a trip to Disneyland last week.
