A Massachusetts bank agreed to pay a $150,000 fine for failing to report 35 large transactions totaling more than $1 million, and court documents contend the bank failed to report 316 other transactions totaling $6.5 million. The National Bank of Fairhaven became the seventh Massachusetts bank to be indicted for failing to report transactions of more than $10,000. A plea agreement filed Monday in U.S. District Court calls for Fairbank to admit to 35 violations of currency reporting laws. If a judge rejects the proposed agreement, the bank can withdraw its guilty plea.
