Homosexual couples in Denmark may soon be able to marry and enjoy many of the legal rights of their heterosexual counterparts, newspapers reported here.

Under a bill currently before the Danish Parliament--due to come into effect next June, if passed--homosexual couples could officially register their marriages, which would then be subject to normal nuptial laws.

However, homosexual partners would still not be allowed to adopt children, the Justice Ministry said.
