California Tax Refunds

Share

It seems that those who have written in recently in opposition to the tax rebate try to put the debate into a context that if you’re against the rebate, you are for better education, shelter for the homeless, finding a cure for disease and various other social causes; and if you were for the rebate you are against all of the above. This is pure nonsense.

We have become too reliant upon government to be our social conscience. The various government agencies have become our mercenaries in fighting social injustices. We can keep things impersonal, not having to see the faces of the victims, simply by paying our taxes and leaving it things up to the government to take care of. If the problem doesn’t go away, we might make a demand that the government spend more of our money, but very seldom do we demand any accountability.

If you want your children to be better educated, don’t count on someone else; spend more time with them yourself. If you want to help the homeless or some other cause, get in touch with an organization that might be able to use your help.
