The Navy is investigating allegations that a civilian employee physically abused two boys at one of the child-care centers at Moffett Field Naval Air Station. The employee, who has since been transferred to a post where he is away from children, allegedly hit, kicked and “touched” two children, ages 4 or 5, last July, Moffett spokesman John Shackleton said. The incident is apparently the first to be reported at Moffett but one of a growing number of such cases that have been reported at more than two dozen military day-care centers nationwide in the last four years.
