Britain Places Curbs on Noisy Aircraft
LONDON —
Britain introduced new aircraft noise restrictions on Friday that bar older planes from its airports unless they are refitted with hush-kits.
In addition to DC-8s and 707s, other older narrow-bodied aircraft including Boeing 720s and certain sorts of 727s, 737s and DC-7s will have to be refitted, a spokeswoman for the Britain’s Civil Aviation Authority told Reuters.
The regulations will mainly affect Third World airlines, she said.
