Austrian Rightists Call Wiesenthal Murderer on TV

VIENNA — Famed Nazi-hunter Simon Wiesenthal was accused of being a murderer by several Austrian right-wing extremists who shouted at him and threw leaflets today during a live television program.
One of three men in their 20s yelled “You are a murderer!” at Wiesenthal, who has brought hundreds of Nazi war criminals to justice, including notorious S.S. extermination chief Adolf Eichmann, who was executed for crimes against humanity in 1962 after a trial in an Israeli court.
The men stood up in their balcony seats and began their brief tirade halfway through Wiesenthal’s interview at a Vienna theater as part of a series of programs carried over the Austrian television network ORF.
The series marks the 50th anniversary of the annexation of Austria into Hitler’s Third Reich in March, 1938.
The three conservatively dressed men were hustled away by security police while the audience applauded the arrests.
