Turkey announced that it plans to award a $1 billion contract to a U.S. firm to help build armored combat vehicles. Defense Minister Ercan Vuralhan told a news conference that the government’s first choice is FMC Corp.’s Defense Systems Group of San Jose, Calif. Vuralhan said the group would share the contract with Nurol Defense Industry Inc., a Turkish firm. Vuralhan said a final agreement will be signed in about a month.
