In what one political pundit called “the final blow to the Seven (Democratic) Dwarfs,” “Doonesbury” cartoonist Garry Trudeau and director Robert Altman have entered a new and unknown candidate for a fictional TV spoof of the Democratic presidential primary in New Hampshire. “Tanner ‘88,” a two-part comedy starring Michael Murphy as candidate Jack Quinton Tanner, will make its debut on Home Box Office on Feb. 15, the day before the New Hampshire primary. The show is being filmed on location in New Hampshire, where Murphy/Tanner will be integrated into real-life political situations. The second part will be telecast before Super Tuesday on March 8.
