‘Miracle Drug Gets Closer Look’

While the “left hand” of government is spending billions of dollars to fight drug abuse, the “right hand” is paying psychiatrists billions to push our schoolchildren onto amphetamines such as Ritalin--a drug which, per your story, has led toward lowered abilities and even death.

When I was 10 years old in elementary school, I was bored in class, would speak out of turn, became the class clown, jumping out of my seat, making jokes, often getting sent to the principal’s office. If I was in the current average American classroom I would be drugged with Ritalin.

Yet today I am highly paid for the same “hyperactive” creative energy I displayed in the classroom as a child.

This hyperactive energy has resulted in my receiving three Emmys for writing children’s television, and the coveted Humanitas Prize (given by the Human Family Educational & Cultural Institute for the “most humanizing achievement in television writing”). I would not be able to do what I do today if I had been drugged with Ritalin as a child.

We cannot let this crime against our children continue!
