For Nissan Motor Corp., 1988 will be a “dry spell” in the United States, a year with no new models but a determined effort to hold market share and sharpen its image, a U.S. Nissan official said Thursday. Thomas Mignanelli, vice president for sales and marketing for Nissan Motor Corp. in U.S.A., told reporters that he expects Nissan to sell nearly as many cars and light trucks in 1988 as in 1987 despite a lack of new vehicles and what he predicts will be a falling vehicle market. Overall, he predicted that total U.S. sales for 1988 would be around 9.5 million cars and 4.5 million light trucks.
