The Justice Department has withdrawn the arrest warrant it issued with great fanfare two years ago for terrorist Abul Abbas, wanted in connection with the 1985 hijacking of the cruise ship Achille Lauro and the murder of one of its American passengers, department spokesman Patrick Korten said. He said the warrant was withdrawn Nov. 9 after a review of the case and after Abbas was convicted and sentenced in absentia in an Italian court. Palestinian gunmen directed by Abbas hijacked the Achille Lauro in October, 1985, and held its passengers for 52 hours. During that time, wheelchair-bound Leon Klinghoffer, a New Yorker, was killed.
