About 800 wildly cheering New York Post employees demonstrated against a law that could force the closing of the nation’s oldest continually publishing daily newspaper. Workers gathered outside the paper’s offices in Manhattan to demand repeal of a law barring the extension of a two-year Federal Communications Commission waiver granted to Rupert Murdoch, who owns the Post as well as WNYW-TV. Murdoch had been granted waivers for his media holdings in New York and Boston. Under FCC regulations, people and corporations are barred from owning newspapers and television stations in the same market.
