United Auto Workers Union President Owen Bieber will launch an organizing drive today at one of the last union-free car assembly plants in the United States, the Nissan plant in Smyrna, Tenn. Bieber plans to attend a rally at the union’s headquarters in Smyrna this afternoon, a spokesman for the union said. The spokesman said the Nissan plant in Smyrna, which has 2,400 hourly employees, and the Honda plant in Marysville, Ohio, are the two largest non-union car assembly plants in the country.
