Local News in Brief : More Job Training Funds
Job training programs serving Torrance, Carson and Lomita were run so well in 1986-87 that state officials awarded the agency providing the services bonus funding of $126,134.
A spokesman for the Carson-Lomita-Torrance Private Industry Council said that some of the money will be used to increase the amount of free vocational training and placement assistance in fields such as computer technology, automotive repair, word processing and electronics.
In addition, the money will enable the council to expand programs for job search skills, aptitude testing, skills assessment and vocational counseling.
