The United Auto Workers said that union members overwhelmingly ratified severance benefits at Volkswagen’s Westmoreland County, Pa., assembly plant, which will close in July. The settlement offers severance pay of $1,000 to $7,000, depending on seniority and job description. Workers will also get a year of paid medical benefits and special pensions. VW said it would extend the offer to about 400 non-union plant employees.
