Local News in Brief : OSHA to Open Area Office

Share

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration has announced that it is opening an office in Los Angeles with a staff of 27 responsible for enforcement of federal workplace safety and health laws in the City of Los Angeles and in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

Existing OSHA offices in West Covina and Long Beach have responsibility for the rest of Los Angeles County. OSHA assumed responsibility for private sector workplace safety in the state in July after Gov. George Deukmejian vetoed funding for the state job safety agency, known as Cal/OSHA.

The Los Angeles OSHA office will be at 3325 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 601, and will be under the direction of Frank Gravitt, a 12-year OSHA veteran.
