USX posted a $219-million profit for all of 1987 despite a $14-million fourth-quarter loss, marking a turnaround after a $1.83-billion loss the year before. The Pittsburgh-based energy and steel giant said the fourth-quarter loss was due to a $96-million charge for the decreased market value of its crude oil inventories.
