World champion powerlifter Eric Coppin of Belgium...

World champion powerlifter Eric Coppin of Belgium was arrested in Oslo, Norway, after customs officers near the Swedish border found 28,000 Soviet-made steroids on the back seat of his car.

Norway is already reeling from another scandal involving Soviet steroids. Soviet speed skating star Nikolai Gulyayev is alleged to have supplied Norwegian colleague Stein Krosby with tablets in exchange for hard currency.

Steroid tablets sell for about $1 each in Norway. If Coppin, who has lived in Norway for several years, had intended to sell the tablets, he would have made about $31,500--almost 400% profit on the price he says he paid for them.
