Man Hung for Killing Boy to Obtain Blood

A man convicted of murdering a 5-year-old boy to get a bowl of blood for the woman he loved has been publicly hanged in central Pakistan, police said.

Ten thousand people and hundreds of riot police watched Monday as Mohammed Ahsan was put to death at a stadium in Multan, in Punjab province, jail officials said.

Ahsan’s crime dated back several years. The woman, as a means of rejecting his advances, had told him to prove his love by bringing her a bowl full of his blood. Instead, Ahsan killed the 5-year-old and used the boy’s blood.
