Report on Country Club Proposal
Once again, the Valley section of the Los Angeles Times, in reporting the Planning Commission’s action on the Montevideo Country Club proposal (Jan. 20), reports only comments by the “Topanga Town Council” group. Where are the comments from the Viewridge Estates homeowners?
The Topanga Town Council, with its loud, orchestrated followers, seems to be the focus of attention for your reporters. But the article never mentions that the majority of these Topangans are living 5 or 6 miles AWAY from the planned project.
The Topanga Town Council does not represent us, does not speak for us in Viewridge Estates (although our postal address is “Topanga”). We, living in Viewridge Estates, whom your reporter ignores totally, are ADJACENT to the site of the projected Montevideo Country Club. We OVERLOOK the site, and we are very much IN FAVOR of the project. Where was there any mention of our existence, of our strong feeling of support of the development?
The Montevideo Country Club project is a beautifully conceived project. The Topanga Town Council’s followers have, from the project’s inception, used outright dishonest means in denigrating the project. But your reporters covering the story seem to relish in picking up their allegations, spreading their falsehoods and giving the clear impression that this project is rejected by all.
