A major exhibition in two of Mexico’s most prominent museums is honoring “70 years of creativity” from Mexico’s best-known living artist, Rufino Tamayo. The 88-year-old artist said he planned for a much smaller exhibit until someone in the government learned about the plan and started the snowball rolling. The Rufino Tamayo Museum in Chapultepec Park and the Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts, both in Mexico City, are holding more than 500 examples of the artist’s murals, paintings, drawings, graphics and sculpture. “I like it a lot because my people are the ones who are doing it. It’s here, here in my country,” Tamayo said.
