AIDS and Gay Bathhouses

Share

Is it any wonder there is prejudice and even hatred toward the gay population when gay activist John O’Brien, who cites as one of his favorite activities the bathhouse weekend group sessions, makes the statement that he “support(s) people’s right to have unsafe sex.” That’s akin to saying that people have a right to drive drunk.

And the UCLA study that found that “most (bathhouse) patrons relied on the baths for AIDS education” defies simple common sense, given the amount of information on AIDS that’s been provided by literally all media in recent years.

Given the danger and potential for the spread of this disease, there is no place in our society for businesses that wish to cater to the minority of gays whose idea of sexual freedom is promiscuous coupling. Freedom, sexual or otherwise, goes hand-in-hand with individual responsibility. Close the bathhouses.
