West Bank Safe as ‘Living Room,’ Israel Aide Says
From Reuters
KEDUMIM, Israeli-Occupied West Bank —
Israeli Tourism and Justice Minister Avraham Sharir on Thursday declared the occupied West Bank safe for foreign tourists despite a Palestinian uprising now in its third month.
Sharir toured Jewish settlements on the West Bank escorted by a bodyguard armed with a submachine-gun and three armed border policemen.
“It’s safe, it’s peaceful, it’s as safe as in anyone’s living room,” he said. “People from all over the world should come.”
