A man who won the biggest cash award ever on NBC’s game show “Super Password” will fight to keep his $58,000 winnings, even though he used an alias on the show and is wanted for fraud in two states.
Using the name Patrick Quinn, Kerry Ketchem, 36, won the cash on the show but was arrested Jan. 14 at the show’s offices in Hollywood when he went to pick up his winnings after a viewer recognized him and informed police. The network then announced that it would not turn over the money because Ketchem had lied about his name on contestant release agreements.
His attorney, Barry Hammond, pledged to sue for his client’s winnings if necessary.
“There’s money owed to victims (of Ketchem’s frauds) and it’s better the money go to the victims than to NBC,” he said.
One of the charges against him is for filing a phony death report on his wife to collect $100,000 in life insurance.
