Artillery Shell Found at Acton Building Site
An artillery shell was discovered by construction workers in Acton Monday and turned over to a sheriff’s bomb investigation unit.
The 2-foot-long projectile was found about noon while workers were digging at a construction site at 34120 Crown Valley Road, said Sheriff’s Sgt. James Rupsa.
Deputies transported the shell to Peter Pitchess Honor Rancho for disposal, Rupsa said.
Rupsa said the device’s appearance indicated that it may have dated back to the Korean War. He said the detonator had been removed.
