Applied Data Communications reported a loss of $310,000 for its third quarter, an improvement over its year-earlier loss of $1.7 million. Revenue for the quarter ended Dec. 31 rose 79% to $2.58 million from $1.44 million. The sharp rise in revenue was primarily the result of ADC’s September, 1987, acquisition of Dateline Technology, which had sales in the quarter of $923,000. ADC President Pat Kane attributed the loss to delays in shipping new products. The company manufactures duplication and test equipment for computer storage devices. Kane said ADC’s manufacturing plant operated at only 50% of capacity during the quarter, resulting in higher operating costs and reduced profits.
