Colombian Sentenced for 71 Rape-Killings

GUAYAQUIL, Ecuador —
A Colombian who raped and murdered at least 71 women and girls was sentenced Wednesday to 16 years in prison, the maximum under Ecuadorean law, court officials said.
Daniel Camargo Barbosa, 57, was accused of picking his victims in different parts of Ecuador in 1985 and 1986, driving them to desolate spots and strangling them to death. His lawyer said he will appeal.
