BEFORE WE MOVE ON: If Avtograf was wary about meeting AFRTS staffers, they didn’t show it. But let’s talk nervous. As in how nervous the group was when they learned they were doing an interview with a San Diego FM rock station whose call letters were . . . KGB.

“When they first heard the name of the station, they really went crazy,” explained KGB-FM music director Pam Edwards, who said group members were pleasant and friendly during their recent visit to the station. “I don’t think they were actually worried or anything. They just couldn’t believe that a radio station could be called KGB. I guess it was ironic all the way around.”

Once the band members got their bearings, they made one immediate request. “They all demanded to have T-shirts with our logo to take back home,” Edwards said. “I have a feeling the T-shirts are going to be a big hit there.”
